Using this biomarker in combination with haptoglobin allows detecting with high sensitivity problems of health or poor welfare in the herd. Turbovet bovine ITIH4 is the first method on the market for the analysis of ITIH4 by turbidimetry. With Turbovet bovine ITIH4 the results are obtained in a few minutes, the assay can be automated using a clinical chemistry analyzer, and a pre-dilution of the sample is not necessary. This reduces significantly the analyst’s working time, and consequently the costs. The test also has a very high precision and reproducibility, making it an ideal tool for production quality control systems or animal welfare certification programs.<\/p>\n

TEST PRINCIPLE<\/h2>\n

The test is based on immunoturbidimetry: ITIH4 from serum reacts with specific antibodies to form immunoaggregates, originating an increase of turbidity in the reaction media. The increase of turbidity is determined with a photometric measure, and is proportional to the concentration of ITIH4 in the sample. The assay uses a calibrator specific for swine. Calibrator\u00b4s values are assigned with an internal reference material, as no international standard for bovine ITIH4 exists.<\/p>\n
