Comet32 performs the Eclipse 4G antibiotic screening assay automatically and interprets the results objectively. Just apply a drop of milk to the Eclipse test and Comet32 will incubate and stop the assay automatically; interpreting and saving the results in the device. Comet32 helps you to standardise the antibiotics assay and to manage samples, using four different sets (1-8 samples), individually or together.

TEST PRINCIPLE

ECLIPSE test is based on the growth inhibition of the Geobacillus stearothermophilus bacterium. In a specific culture medium and under suitable conditions, the spores of this bacterium germinate and multiply, acidifying the medium, producing a colour change in the culture medium from blue to yellow. If the milk sample contains an antimicrobial concentration higher than the test detection limit, the bacterial growth is inhibited and therefore the colour change of the medium will not occur. When Eclipse test is used in combination with Comet32, the colour changed is monitored in real time to measure the inhibition growth.

TECHNICAL DATA

  • Scope: simultaneous detection of 50 antibiotics from 8 different families in milk (beta-lactams, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, macrolides, aminoglycosides, lincosamides, anasamycins and sulfones).
  • Assay-time: 2 h 30 minutes.
  • Manual assay: one-stage incubation at 63°C for approximately 2.5h and visual reading.
  • Results: Qualitative (neg/pos) and numerical results displayed on the screen.
  • Format: Plate: Individual assays from 1 to 31 samples per assay.

External validation by the German laboratory MQD – Institute for Analytics, Hygiene and Product Quality GmbH.

 

Internal validation: According to ISO 13 969:2003.

 

Legislation:

Commission Regulation (EU) No 37/2010 of 22 December 2009 on pharmacologically active substances and their classification regarding maximum residue limits in foodstuffs of animal origin.
